1-Boc-3-iodoazetidine (1BIA) is an organometallic compound that was synthesized using a cross-coupling reaction. 1BIA has shown to be a covalent inhibitor of the enzyme lysine residues, which are involved in protein synthesis. It has been shown to be effective against cancer cells in cell culture studies. The pharmacokinetics of 1BIA have been studied in rats and mice. Oral administration showed bioavailability of about 50% and plasma clearance of about 0.4 ml/min/kg, suggesting that it may be used for cancer therapy.
