5-Bromo-2H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine is a chemical compound that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. The infrared spectrum of this compound displays a strong resonance between 1630 and 1680 cm−1. The proton magnetic resonance of 5-bromo-2H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine displays a single peak at 3.5 ppm. This compound also exhibits analgesic activity in rats and can be used as a substitute for indomethacin or acetophenones.
5-Bromo-2H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine is synthesized by condensation of benzyloxyphenyl with acetophenone in the presence of potassium hydroxide.
