Description

1-Bromomethyl-4-methylbenzene is an organic compound that is used to synthesize ethyl bromoacetate. It has been shown that this molecule has apoptotic activities, which may be due to its ability to activate the picolinic acid pathway. This molecule also reacts with chloride ions and forms a chemical reaction product. The mechanism of this reaction is not known, but it may involve a metal ion or radical coupling. 1-Bromomethyl-4-methylbenzene reacts with halide ions in a cross-coupling reaction, forming a palladium catalyst on the surface of an electrode surface. This process is called electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and can be used to detect the presence of metals in solution.
