Description:
3-Bromo-N-methylaniline is a pyridinium compound. It is a reaction intermediate in the synthesis of organoselenium compounds, such as selenourea, and other selenium compounds. 3-Bromo-N-methylaniline has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial membrane potential and induce cancer cells to undergo apoptosis in nanomolar concentrations. This drug also inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species, which may be due to its ability to methylate DNA bases and aminate amino acids.
