Description:
6-Bromochroman-4-one is a potent and selective inhibitor of the Rho-associated protein kinase (ROCK) that has been shown to lower intraocular pressure in animal models. 6-Bromochroman-4-one blocks the activation of ROCK and prevents phosphorylation of myosin light chain, which is required for cell contraction. The drug also inhibits other protein kinases, such as p38 MAPK, JNK1/2, and PKCα, but with less potency than ROCK. 6-Bromochroman-4-one is a class I phosphodiesterase inhibitor that may also have antiangiogenic properties due to its inhibition of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2.
