2-Methyl-4-hydroxypyrrolidine-1,2-dicarboxylic acid is a decamer that belongs to the group of adenine analogues. It has affinity for the A site of ribonucleotide reductase and inhibits the synthesis of RNA in cells. 2-Methyl-4-hydroxypyrrolidine-1,2-dicarboxylic acid also has been shown to have a conformationally restricted monomer form, which is an analogue of cis-4-hydroxyproline. This compound has been used as a substrate for peptide synthesis.
