It has shown antitumor effects and also has the potential to be a drug for the treatment of cancer. 5-Bromo-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine is synthesized from 7-azaindole and magnesium oxide and can be reduced with hydrogen gas or catalytic hydrogenation reduction. The reaction yield and time are dependent on the catalyst used. The amido group is necessary for catalysis.
