4-Bromo-3-methylaniline is a halogenated organic compound. It was synthesised by the reaction of 3-bromoaniline and methylamine. It has been shown to be an effective catalyst for the synthesis of quinolines from chlorides. The molecule consists of a quinoline ring fused to an amide group. X-ray crystallography has been used to optimise its structure. 4-Bromo-3-methylaniline has also been shown to be a substrate for the synthesis of zinc nanoparticles, which are used in nanotubes, through vibrational spectroscopy at high pressure
