1-Bromo-3-chloro-5-methoxybenzene is the chemical compound with the formula CHBrClO. It is a reactive, anisole that can be synthesized by dehalogenation of 2-propanol with palladium as a catalyst. The chemical isomerizes to 3,5-dimethoxybenzene upon exposure to light and air. 1-Bromo-3,5-dimethoxybenzene can be synthesized from 1,2,4,5-tetrahydroquinoline in two steps starting from acetone or 2-bromobenzaldehyde. The brominated product is converted to 3,5-dimethoxybenzene through a series of reactions including oxidation and hydrogenation.
