5-Bromo-1,3-di-tert-butyl-2-methoxybenzene is a colorless liquid that belongs to the group of brominated aromatic hydrocarbons. It can be used as an excipient in pharmaceutical formulations and has been shown to have a reversible effect on airways. 5-Bromo-1,3-di-tert-butyl-2-methoxybenzene is used as an asthma treatment and has been shown to cause significant improvement in patients with chronic bronchitis. This compound also has a phenyl ring, which allows it to be easily dissolved in water and alcohol. It may form solvates with water, ethanol, acetone, or chloroform. 5-Bromo-1,3-di -tert butyl 2 methoxybenzene also contains hydrogen atoms that can be catalyzed by palladium or platinum into hydrogen gas.
