Description:
Bis(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl) malonate is a diazotizing and oxychlorinating agent that reacts with other compounds to form chlorinated derivatives. It is used in the preparation of various oxychlorides. Bis(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl) malonate has shown anaphylactic properties in animals and humans. The parameters for this compound have been determined by radiation methods and preparative chemistry. Bis(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl) malonate may be prepared from malonic acid and phosphorus oxychloride using a hydroxy group as a leaving group.
