Tert-butyl 4-methylenepiperidine-1-carboxylate (TBMPC) is a synthetic drug that is used in vivo assays to investigate the pharmacokinetic properties of drugs. This amide is bifunctional, meaning it can act as both an acid and an amine. TBMPC is synthesized from tert-butanol and methylamine. This drug has been shown to be active against certain fungi, including Candida albicans and Cryptococcus neoformans. TBMPC inhibits fatty acid synthesis by inhibiting acyl carrier protein (ACP). It also inhibits long-term safety in vitro assays by interfering with cellular replication at the G2/M phase checkpoint.
