Product Information
- 3-Tert-Butyl Salicylaldehyde
3-(tert-Butyl)-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde is a low molecular weight compound that has been shown to have optimal reaction rates with ethylene. It can be used as a monomer in the production of polymers, such as poly(styrene) and poly(vinyl chloride). Reaction products from the condensation of 3-(tert-butyl)-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde with ethylene include styrene and vinyl chloride. 3-(tert-Butyl)-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde is also a ligand for transition metals. It binds to metal ions through its trifluoromethyl group, which helps to stabilize the metal complex.
