1-(Bromomethyl)-4-methoxy-2-nitrobenzene (BMN) is a therapeutic agent that has been shown to induce cell death in cancer cells. BMN is a multi-kinase inhibitor and has been shown to inhibit tyrosine kinases, serine/threonine kinases, and dual kinase inhibitors. It induces cell death through the activation of caspases and the release of cytochrome c from mitochondria. BMN can also function as an anti-inflammatory agent by inhibiting the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as TNFα and IL1β.
