Description

5-Bromo-2-ethylbenzofuran is a potent antiproliferative agent. It binds to tubulin and inhibits the polymerization of microtubules, which prevents mitotic spindle formation. 5-Bromo-2-ethylbenzofuran also blocks the formation of new cytoskeleton by binding to the skeleton and preventing actin polymerization. This drug has been shown to induce apoptosis in cells through a variety of mechanisms including inhibition of methoxy groups, microscopy, and cytometry. 5-Bromo-2-ethylbenzofuran is an antitumor agent that inhibits cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo.
