1-(6-Bromopyridin-2-yl)ethanol (BPEE) is a carbene and nitrogen stabilizer that has been used in the synthesis of vinylpyridine. BPEE can be used to stabilize reactive intermediates such as carbene, nitrenes, and carbenes. It reacts with the electrophilic carbene to form an ether product. BPEE also reacts with the nucleophilic nitrene to form a stable intermediate.
