Product Information
- 2-(Bromomethyl)benzo[d]oxazole
- 2-(Bromomethyl)benzoxazole
- 2-Bromomethyl-1,3-benzoxazole
2-Bromomethylbenzoxazole is a bifunctional organic molecule that can be used as a cross-coupling agent for the synthesis of heterocycles. It reacts with benzyl halides to form an unstable intermediate, which undergoes electron transfer and subsequent coupling with various electrophiles. The bromide group can be removed by photolysis to give 2-methylbenzoxazole, which is then used in a number of syntheses. 2-Bromomethylbenzoxazole has been shown to react with carboxylic acids, forming esters or amides. This compound also reacts with copper ions to form photocleavable complexes that are useful sources of molecular oxygen when irradiated with light.
