- 5-Isoxazolecarboxylic acid, 3-bromo-
3-Bromoisoxazole-5-carboxylic acid is an isoxazole that has bronchodilating properties. It has been shown to be a potent and selective inhibitor of the phosphodiesterase enzyme PDE4, which is involved in the breakdown of cAMP in airway smooth muscle. 3-Bromoisoxazole-5-carboxylic acid also inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1β, IL-6, and TNFα. This agent has been shown to be well tolerated in humans with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
