It has also shown an inhibitory effect on cardiac arrhythmia and chloride ion channel activity, which may be due to the dipole nature of its structure. 2-(Benzofuran-2-yl)acetic acid is not active against microbial infections. The chemical compound is a tautomer of 2-[(benzofuran-2-yl)amino]acetic acid.
