Description:

(R)-2-(((benzyloxy)carbonyl)amino)-4-hydroxybutanoic acid is a catalytic agent that has been used in the synthesis of antibiotics such as acylase and β-galactosidase. This compound was also used to synthesize d-homoserine, which is an intermediate for the production of antibiotics. The stereoselectivity for (R)-2-(((benzyloxy)carbonyl)amino)-4-hydroxybutanoic acid has been investigated with a questionnaire. Acylase activity was measured by immobilizing it on a support and measuring the amount of substrate converted to product after a certain time period. Enantiomeric excesses were determined by measuring the amount of substrate converted to product in the presence of enantiopure (R)-2-(((benzyloxy)carbonyl)amino)-4-hydroxybutanoic acid.
