Description:
5-Bromoisoindoline hydrochloride is a cyclizing agent. It is used to produce benzoic acid from 5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzoic acid, which is a byproduct of the production of dyes and other chemicals. The reaction with borane and benzoic acid produces the esterifying agent, 5-bromoisoindoline. 5-Bromoisoindoline can also be reacted with hydrogen bromide to form the brominating agent, 5-bromoisoindolinium bromide.
