7-Bromoisoindolin-1-one is a cycloaddition product of pyridone and isocyanic acid. It has been used as a methodology for the discovery of inhibitors of isoindolinones. 7-Bromoisoindolin-1-one has been shown to inhibit isoindolinones, which are involved in the synthesis of prostaglandins and related eicosanoids. This product can be used as an analog to propiolamide, which is used in the treatment of angina pectoris. 7-Bromoisoindolin-1-one inhibits the isoindolinones by competitively binding to them and preventing their catalytic activity, thereby inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis.
