Benzo[d]isothiazol-3-amine is a diastereomer that has been used in pharmaceutical preparations. It has been shown to have antimycotic properties and to inhibit the production of inflammatory mediators such as PGE2, IL-1β, and TNF-α. The enantiomer of benzo[d]isothiazol-3-amine has been shown to be more potent than the racemic mixture, with a greater affinity for receptor activity. In humans and animals, this compound has shown antiinflammatory activity by inhibiting COX enzymes involved in prostaglandin synthesis.
