- 4-(6-Bromopyrid-2-Yl)Morpholine
- Morpholine, 4-(6-bromo-2-pyridinyl)-
4-(6-Bromopyridin-2-yl)morpholine (4BP) is a catalytic, reactive compound that has been used in the synthesis of fluorobenzenes and fluorinated pyridines. It is prepared by the reaction of 2-bromo-5-methylpyridine with 4-(6-bromopyridin-2-yl)morpholine. The substituents on the pyridine ring are important for its reactivity. This synthesis can be achieved with a palladium catalyst and potassium as a source of both oxygen and hydrogen. The reaction proceeds via an intramolecular cyclization to form a diphosphine intermediate that undergoes substitution at the ortho position and elimination to give 4BP.
