The product is then cyclized by heating it at boiling temperature. (2-Bromomethyl)-4-chloro-1-nitrobenzene is used as a precursor for other compounds, such as 2,5,6,7,8,-hexachlorodibenzo-[d]pyridine and 2,5,6,7,8,-hexachlorodibenzofuran.
