2-Benzyloxy-5-bromopyrimidine is a boronic acid that has been used in the synthesis of cytotoxic benzyl alcohols. This compound has shown anticancer activity in vitro, inhibiting cell growth and inducing apoptosis. It also inhibits the growth of human colon cancer cells. 2-Benzyloxy-5-bromopyrimidine may be synthesized from benzaldehyde, bromoacetaldehyde, and pyridine in the presence of a palladium catalyst.
