Product Information
- Phenol, 2-(Aminomethyl)-4-Bromo-
5-Bromo-2-Hydroxybenzylamine (5BHB) is an intermediate in the synthesis of salicylic acid, which is used in the production of aspirin. It can be synthesized by reduction of salicylaldehyde with hydrogen and a catalyst such as nickel or palladium. 5BHB has been shown to interact with metal ions, such as copper and silver, by chelation. The molecular structure of 5BHB includes a cyclic ring that is formed from two phenyl rings connected by methylene bridges. The molecule also contains anions, which are negatively charged groups on its surface.
5BHB is a ligand that binds to metal ions through the chelate ring and interacts with other molecules by means of the negative charge on its surface.
