Product Information
- 2-Tert-Butoxyacetic Acid
- Tert-Butoxyacetic Acid
Tert-Butoxyacetic acid is a linker that has been used in the synthesis of glyoxal, hexacarbonyl and hydration. It reacts with benzene and dioxane to form an anion. Tert-Butoxyacetic acid can also be used as a reactive agent in organic synthesis, such as the formation of esters and amides. This compound also has potent antiviral activity. The antiviral activity of tert-butoxyacetic acid is due to its ability to inhibit HIV reverse transcriptase by binding to the enzyme's active site. Tert-butoxyacetic acid also acts by inhibiting protein synthesis, which leads to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. X-ray crystallography has been used to study the allosteric inhibition of catalytic enzymes by tert-butoxyacetic acid.
