Product Information

Name:
Bis(2-carboxyethyl)isocyanurate
Synonyms:
  • 1,3,5-Triazine-1,3(2H,4H)-dipropanoic acid, dihydro-2,4,6-trioxo-
  • Bis(2-Carboxyethyl) Isocyanurate
  • 3,3'-(2,4,6-Trioxo-1,3,5-triazinane-1,3-diyl)dipropanoic acid
Description:

Bis(2-carboxyethyl)isocyanurate is a viscosic and luminescent polymer that is used in polyester production. Bis(2-carboxyethyl)isocyanurate is synthesized by the reaction of ethylene with chloroacetic acid, which produces terephthalic acid as a byproduct. The carboxylic acid group on the bis(2-carboxyethyl)isocyanurate molecule can interact with other organic ligands to form supramolecular complexes. These complexes are characterized by their high viscosity and luminescence properties.
