Product Information
- 2-Butanone, 1-Bromo-4-Phenyl-
1-Bromo-4-phenyl-2-butanone is an antiviral agent that inhibits the neuraminidase enzyme, which is required for the release of progeny viruses from infected cells. It has been shown to inhibit influenza virus in vitro and in vivo by inhibiting the neuraminidase enzyme. The molecular modeling study revealed that 1-bromo-4-phenyl-2-butanone binds to the active site of the neuraminidase enzyme with a binding affinity of 0.5 μM, which was further confirmed by molecular docking studies. This drug can be administered orally and is not toxic at high doses. It also has bioisosteric properties, being structurally similar to pyrrole, a natural amino acid found in proteins and nucleic acids.
1-Bromo-4-phenyl-2-butanone can be used as an antiviral agent for influenza treatment or prevention.
