2-[(2-Bromoacetyl)amino]benzophenone is an organic compound that is made synthetically. It has been shown to have cancer cell growth inhibition properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit famesylation, a protein modification process in which the enzyme famesyltransferase introduces a fatty acid (farnesyl) group onto the side chain of amino acids. 2-[(2-Bromoacetyl)amino]benzophenone is also known as "switchable" because it can be synthesized with two different configurations: one form has two bromine atoms on opposite sides and the other has two bromine atoms on adjacent carbons.
