Product Information
- (Benzene-1,4-Diyldiethyne-2,1-Diyl)Bis(Trimethylsilane)
1,4-Bis[(trimethylsilyl)ethynyl]benzene is an anion that is used as a luminescent probe in organic chemistry. It is a linear polymer with two phenyl rings, one of which has been substituted by a trimethylsilyl group. 1,4-Bis[(trimethylsilyl)ethynyl]benzene emits light when it reacts with other chemical compounds. The reaction can be induced by adding a nucleophile such as chloride or sodium hydroxide to the compound and heating it. 1,4-Bis[(trimethylsilyl)ethynyl]benzene was first synthesized using potassium t-butoxide and diethyl ether in the presence of an aluminium catalyst. This compound has been used for the preparation of polymeric matrices for devices such as OLEDs and LCDs that emit light spontaneously.
