Product Information
- 2-Butylpropane-1,3-Diol
2-N-Butylpropane-1,3-diol is a predominantly microbial research compound that has been optimized to perform in various environments. It is predominately used as a thionyl chloride donor for polyester synthesis and as a choline esterase inhibitor for acetobacter growth. This compound also exhibits antibacterial properties against bacterial strains and has been shown to inhibit the growth of polymeric bacteria. 2-N-Butylpropane-1,3-diol is synthesized from the reaction of acetaldehyde with propylene oxide followed by hydrolysis. The product can be used as an intermediate or monomer in the synthesis of other compounds.
