Bis(diethylamino)chlorophosphine is a nucleophile that has been used in asymmetric synthesis of deoxyribonucleosides. The chloride anion is the nucleophile for this reaction and can be replaced by other halides, such as bromide or iodide. Bis(diethylamino)chlorophosphine has also been used to synthesize tenofovir conjugates with high antiviral activity. This compound reacts with ferrocene to form bis(diethylamino)ferrocenylphosphine, which has been shown to have an increased potency against hepatitis B virus (HBV). It also interacts with perfluorinated compounds by displacing the attached chlorine atom, which can be replaced by other halides.
