4-Bromo-2-indolecarboxylic acid is a synthetic molecule with pro-inflammatory cytokines. It has been shown to increase the production of glutamate in a rat model and has an affinity for the p38 MAPK protein. This compound also has high affinity binding to the pentane and chloride subunits, which are found in the NMDA receptor. 4-Bromo-2-indolecarboxylic acid is currently being investigated as a potential drug for epilepsy or stroke.
