tert-Butyl2,6-diazaspiro[3.5]nonane-6-carboxylate is the target compound in this experiment. It is a peroxide that can be synthesized by esterification of tert-butanol with 2,6-diazaspiro[3.5]nonane-6-carboxylic acid and hydrolysis of the resultant tert-butyl ester. The first step in this synthesis process is diazotization of aniline with sodium nitrite, followed by addition of hydrogen peroxide to produce the desired compound. The reaction produces hydroxylamine and oxidized tertiary amines as byproducts, which are then hydrolyzed with hydrochloric acid to produce tert-butyl2,6-diazaspiro[3.5]nonane-6-carboxylate.
