Product Information
2-Bromo-4-methylpyridine-3-carbonitrile (BMC) is a competitive inhibitor of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) that is used in the treatment of HIV/AIDS. BMC inhibits HIV's transcriptase enzyme and terminates the production of viral RNA by binding to its active site. It also has been shown to inhibit nevirapine, another HIV drug, from binding to its target site on the HIV transcriptase enzyme. This drug has a bromo group, which enhances its efficiency as an inhibitor. The crystallization of this compound was achieved through chemistry and the synthesis of acyclic pyridines.
