Description:
N-Benzyl-2,6-piperidinedione is a cyclic intermediate that can be used in the synthesis of lactams. It is a reagent for the transfer hydrogenation of propargyl alcohols to give alkynes and for the zinc metal mediated intramolecularly activated transfer hydrogenation of alkenes to give ketones. It can also be used as a pharmaceutical drug to treat hyperlipidemia, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension.
