10-N-Boc-amino-dec-1-ene is a molecule that is formed by the oxidation of 10-amino-decanoic acid. This molecule has been shown to be an electron acceptor in the production of photoluminescence from silicon nanocrystals. The sensitivity of this molecule was increased by using a monolayer and alkene as electron donors, allowing for detection of low concentrations of human serum albumin. 10-N-Boc-amino-dec-1-ene has shown potential as a diagnostic tool for cardiac disease, as well as a possible treatment for cancer.
