Description:
3-Bromothiophene-4-boronic acid is an organic compound that is used in chemical synthesis. It reacts with a variety of organic and inorganic compounds to form boronate esters. 3-Bromothiophene-4-boronic acid can be used as the catalyst for many different reactions, including the conversion of aryl chlorides to boronic acids. This compound is also reversibly deprotonated by a nonpolar solvent, such as hexane or chloroform. 3-Bromothiophene-4-boronic acid has been shown to be catalytically active when using an iodide or chloride as an oxidant, which may be due to its high electron density on the heteroatom (i.e., boron).
