Tert-butyl4-iodopyrazole-1-carboxylate (TBIPC) is a crystalline solid that belongs to the group of pyrazole derivatives. It has been reported that TBIPC is a potent inhibitor of bacterial dna gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are enzymes involved in DNA replication. TBIPC also inhibits the production of proteins vital for cell division by binding to bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA. The structural data of TBIPC was obtained using x-ray crystallography and the molecular parameters were calculated using the Varian software package. The crystal structure consists of two molecules in an asymmetric unit, with a hydrogen bond between one molecule and water molecules. The x-ray diffraction data were collected at room temperature on an RIGAKU XRD-6000/PAD detector system with Cu Kα radiation (λ=1.5418 Å).
