2-Bromocyclohexanone is a chemical compound with anti-inflammatory activity. It has been shown to inhibit the production of prostaglandins in cell cultures and to suppress inflammation in rats. 2-Bromocyclohexanone is synthetically produced by the reaction of cyclohexanone with bromine, which introduces a hydroxyl group and an asymmetric carbon atom into the molecule. The molecular weight of 2-bromocyclohexanone is 198.2 g/mol and its chemical formula is C6H10BrO. The compound can be characterized by its nmr spectra and conformational properties, which are determined by low energy radiation such as X-rays or magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
2-Bromocyclohexanone has also been shown to have potent antagonist effects on phosphodiesterase enzymes, which are involved in inflammatory diseases such as asthma and arthritis.
