2-((S)-4-tert-Butyl-4,5-dihydro-oxazol-2-yl)-6-methyl-pyridine is a chiral ligand that is soluble in organic solvents and has been used to prepare catalytic amounts of zinc chloride. Chlorobenzene and chloroform are good solvents for this compound. 2-[(S)-4-(tert butyl) 4,5 dihydrooxazol 2 yl]-6 methyl pyridine has been shown to be stable in the presence of chloride ions, which can be used as a preparative method.
