Description

5-Bromo-2-methylbenzenesulfonylchloride is a small molecule that inhibits the transcription factor BRD4 in tumor cells. It binds to bromodomains and prevents binding of transcription factors that regulate gene expression, leading to inhibition of tumor growth. 5-Bromo-2-methylbenzenesulfonylchloride has been shown to be orally active in mice with prostate cancer and has a high potency in cell-based assays. The stability of this agent is dependent on the presence of family members, such as P450 and glutathione reductase, which are necessary for metabolism. 5-Bromo-2-methylbenzenesulfonylchloride also displays permeability across cell membranes.
