Description:

Bismuthtris(methanesulfonate) is a high molecular weight compound of bismuth. It has the chemical formula Bi2O3.nH2SO4·nCH3COONa, where n can be any number from 0 to 3. Bismuthtris(methanesulfonate) is used as a catalyst for organic reactions and as a coating for metal surfaces. It is also used in the production of divalent hydrocarbons and unsaturated alkyl compounds. Inorganic acids such as sulfuric acid react with bismuth tris(methanesulfonate) to form an acidic solution that can dissolve amines, which are basic compounds. This compound is also used in coatings because it has functional groups that can form strong bonds with other molecules.
