Product Information
- Benzenecarboximidamide, 4-Bromo-
4-Bromo-benzamidine is a cell growth inhibitor that inhibits the synthesis of proteins by binding to the protein genes. It is used in biological research to study the effects of 4-bromobenzamide on cells in culture. The drug binds to the cytoplasmic protein and forms insoluble polymers, which inhibit cell division. This drug has been shown to have an effect on fatty acid metabolism, but does not appear to cause any adverse reactions. 4-Bromo-benzamidine has also been shown to bind with sephadex g-100, a type of insoluble polymer that can be used for chromatography in biochemistry. In addition, this agent has been found to be an effective antimicrobial against gram positive bacteria such as solanum tuberosum (potato) and Staphylococcus aureus. However, it is not active against gram negative bacteria such as E. coli or Pseudomonas
