1-Benzyl-hexahydro-4H-azepin-4-one is a crystalline solid that is soluble in 2-propanol and insoluble in water. It is an enantiopure compound that has been isolated as a hydrolysis product from the reaction of 4-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)benzyl alcohol with ethyl chloroacetate. 1-Benzylhexahydro-4H-azepin-4-one has been studied for medicinal applications such as being a cosolvent or amide in the synthesis of pyrazolopyrimidines, aminations, and reductive aminations.
