Description

N-[5-[Bis(2-methoxyethyl)amino]-2-[(2-cyano-4-nitrophenyl)azo]phenyl]acetamide is a water soluble, nonionic, synthetic detergent that has been used as a cross-linking agent in polymer films. It has the ability to form polyvinyl alcohols with high viscosity and it also serves as an optical brightener. N-[5-[Bis(2-methoxyethyl)amino]-2-[(2-cyano-4-nitrophenyl)azo]phenyl]acetamide is commonly used in analytical chemistry for the determination of protein content in dilute solutions. This compound has granule properties, which allow it to be used as a film-forming polymer for sodium carbonate and fatty acid production. This compound also has serine protease activity, which may be due to its inhibition of the enzyme serine protease.
