Butanedioic acid, 2-hydroxy-, compd with7-[(3S,5S)-3-amino-5-methyl-1-piperidinyl]-1-cyclopropyl-1,4-dihydro-8-methoxy-4-oxo-3-quino linecarboxylicacid is a new antibiotic that has been shown to be active against methicillin susceptible and resistant Staphylococcus aureus. It has a pharmacokinetic study in humans, and the results show that it is excreted mainly through urine as its conjugates. In vitro studies showed that this drug is metabolized by hydrolysis of the ester linkage by esterases or glucuronidases.
