Butylhydrazineoxalate is a heterocyclic chemical that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. It is also used to treat bowel diseases, autoimmune diseases, and bacterial infections. Butylhydrazineoxalate has been shown to be effective against hepatitis B and C, congestive heart failure, inflammatory bowel disease, and other inflammatory diseases. The molecule is primarily active against viruses such as Epstein-Barr virus and herpes simplex virus type 1 by preventing viral DNA replication in cells. This drug also has anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis.
